AboutDomaine Trapet Père et Fils
The Trapet family’s Burgundy story is written through vineyards: En Dérée entered the family in 1859, followed over time by holdings in Petite Chapelle, Latricières-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Chambertin. Jean-Louis and Andrée Trapet carried that inheritance into a sixth generation, with their sons Pierre and Louis now working across the family’s Burgundy and Alsace vineyards. Chambertin holds particular weight here: the first family parcel was acquired in 1919, and the domaine now farms three parcels totalling 1.90 hectares, including vines planted that year.
The domaine stopped using herbicides in 1992, began biodynamic trials three years later and moved the whole Burgundy estate to biodynamic farming in 1997.

Red cherry, cassis and black raspberry rise from the glass with rose petal, stone, game, forest floor and dried herbs. The palate is deep and full-bodied but controlled, with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a mineral line carrying the fruit through a long savoury finish. Biodynamic farming brings no need for embellishment here; careful decanting and roast duck, venison or mushrooms will let the detail unfold.
