PJ and Denise Rigney began distilling at The Shed in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, in December 2014. They chose a rural setting beside Lough Allen and the Iron Mountain. The distillery houses five copper pot stills and two column stills for making whiskey, gin and vodka.
Its Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin brings together Irish botanicals, citrus, spice and gunpowder tea. The range also includes single pot still whiskey and Sausage Tree vodka.

Irish Gin
Bright citrus and gunpowder tea lead a fresh, rounded gin, with juniper and warm spice building through the palate. Grapefruit, lemon and kaffir lime add lift, while cardamom and the savoury depth of green tea keep the profile composed rather than overtly floral. The finish is clean, gently peppery and persistent. The limited ceramic presentation celebrates the Year of the Dragon, while the spirit retains the familiar Drumshanbo balance. Serve with tonic and grapefruit, or in a crisp Martini.
