Thomas and Kim Bard bought the abandoned school in Graham, Kentucky, in 2015 and began turning it into The Bard Distillery. Built in 1925 for the coal-mining town, the Art Deco school had taught Thomas and three earlier generations of his family before closing in 2004. Thomas is also a descendant of William Bard, a founder of Bardstown.
For Founder’s Select, Thomas and Kim choose three barrels of mature Kentucky straight bourbon, then blend, bottle, label and sign the release themselves.

American Whiskey
Orange rind and vanilla open the nose with freshness and warmth. Cinnamon builds across a generous, rounded palate, while mature oak and a restrained smoky note lend depth without turning dry. Drawn from three carefully matched barrels of Kentucky straight bourbon, the blend is selected for character rather than a fixed age statement. The finish is long, gently smoky and persistent, carrying citrus peel, vanilla and spice. Serve neat or over a single large cube.
