AboutTenuta di Castellaro

A walk across Lipari’s Piana di Castellaro in the summer of 2005 led the Lentsch family to restore abandoned vineyard land. Tenuta di Castellaro farms its 22 hectares organically, with all vines trained as traditional bush vines, or alberello. Most parcels lie around 350 metres above the sea, on volcanic sand exposed to the island winds.

Malvasia delle Lipari and Corinto Nero are the focus, alongside other Sicilian and international grapes. The cellar is partly underground, designed to make careful use of natural resources and fit into the landscape.

Tenuta di Castellaro 2019 Nero Ossidiana

Italian Red
$76.99
Deep purple in the glass, with ripe black cherry, cassis, pomegranate and tomato leaf on the nose. The palate is full-bodied but fresh, shaped by a distinctive saline current and supple tannins. Dark fruit remains clear through the long, kirsch-toned finish, giving the wine both power and coastal brightness.

Tenuta di Castellaro 2020 Bianco Porticello

Italian White
$47.99
Green apple and crisp citrus lead, joined by fresh herbs, white flowers and a subtle iodine note. The palate is bright and finely textured, with lively acidity carrying lemon peel and crunchy green fruit. A continuous saline line gives the wine shape and keeps its aromatic character precise. Dry and poised, it closes with mineral freshness, soft spice and a clean, persistent maritime finish.

Tenuta di Castellaro 2019 Bianco Pomice

Italian White
$56.99
Citrus and field flowers open, followed by ripe orchard fruit, cedar and a measured almond note. The palate is broad and finely textured, with fresh acidity and a distinct saline mineral line carrying the fruit. Orange pith and pear add definition through the centre, while white pepper brings gentle lift. Dry and persistent, it finishes with citrus, sweet almond and a long volcanic-mineral edge.
