Tablas Creek Vineyard
AboutTablas Creek Vineyard
A friendship between American importer Robert Haas and the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel led to the founding of Tablas Creek in 1989. They chose limestone-rich land west of Paso Robles, in what is now the Adelaida District. Vine cuttings from Beaucastel passed through quarantine and a nursery before planting, and the nursery went on to supply Rhône varieties to other American vineyards.
The estate vineyard gained organic certification in 2003, biodynamic certification in 2017 and Regenerative Organic Certification in 2020. Native-yeast fermentation and large, neutral French oak vessels are part of the cellar work.
Tablas Creek 2016 Esprit de Tablas Blanc
American White
Rich and expansive, with beeswax, lychee and Asian pear joined by white flowers, white pepper and a measured touch of cedar. The palate is dry and full, bringing lemon cake, pear skin and honeysuckle into balance with bright citrus and saline minerality. A long, textured finish suits lobster, grilled scallops, roast vegetables or rich fish.
