Starmont first appeared on a California wine label in 1989. Today it is owned by René and Laurence Schlatter, with winemaker Jeff Crawford overseeing vineyard sourcing and the cellar.
Fruit comes from coastal sites in Monterey, Santa Barbara, Sonoma and Napa. Crawford favours gentle handling and limited new oak, aiming for freshness and a clear expression of each grape variety.

Dark berries and herbs lead, with baking spice and subtle toasted oak behind them. Fruit, balanced acidity and resolved tannins shape a restrained profile, while the finish has structure and integrated tannins. The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Petite Sirah and Malbec. The wine draws on vineyard lots from across Napa Valley and is presented in a half-bottle.
