AboutSt. Amant

St. Amant is the Spencer family’s California winery, named for Barbara St. Amant Spencer, who bought a ranch with her husband Tim in 1970. Their first harvest came in 1974, followed by a port-style wine in 1981 and a continuing interest in Portuguese and Spanish grapes. After the family moved to Lodi in 1996 and lost its vineyard to phylloxera, Jerry Fry supplied seven tons of old-vine Zinfandel on a handshake, beginning a lasting grower partnership. Mohr-Fry Ranches Zinfandel became its flagship.

The estate vineyards are certified through LODI RULES, with hedgerows, no-till farming and restrained irrigation among their practices. A small team makes and bottles the wines on site, working in small lots with hand-picked fruit and little new oak.

The vineyard was planted more than a century ago and is farmed by Mohr-Fry Ranches under LODI RULES certification in Lodi, California.

St. Amant 2021 Mohr-Fry Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel

American Red

Red fruit leads the nose, with dried strawberry joined by black coffee, forest floor, black pepper and oak. The palate is full and mouth-coating, carried by integrated acidity and the generous fruit expected from old vines.
