AboutSea Star Vineyards

The Pender Island property began with vineyard plantings in 2002 under the Morning Bay Winery name and was reborn as Sea Star Vineyards in 2014. Its new name honours the native sea stars of the surrounding Gulf Islands, with a different local species illustrated on each label. The winery remains Pender-owned and locally guided.

A 26-acre terraced estate climbs Mount Menzies above the Salish Sea, complemented by nearby vines at Clam Bay. The vineyards have rocky, clay-rich soils and a cool maritime climate. The team uses semi-dry farming and harvests by hand, with minimal intervention in the cellar. Whites, rosé and lighter reds lead the range, with an emphasis on earlier-ripening varieties.
