AboutScholium Project

Before making wine, Abe Schoener taught at St John’s College for nine years. A 1998 sabbatical led to an internship at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and then to work with John Kongsgaard, first around vineyard decisions and later in the cellar. Schoener made his first wines at Luna Vineyards; Scholium’s first vintage was 2000. The project makes small quantities of wine.

Scholium Project 2014 The Sylphs Guman Vineyard Chardonnay

American White
$109.99
Full and rounded, the palate is disciplined rather than overtly fruity, with layered secondary and tertiary character carrying through its considerable length. The texture is broad yet controlled, shaped by subtle tannic grip and an unhurried sense of development. Complexity builds gradually across the middle. The finish remains balanced and quietly persistent, leaving savoury, mature detail rather than simple sweetness.
