AboutSamuel Smith's Brewery

Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery stands in Tadcaster on a brewing site established in 1758. The property passed to Samuel Smith in 1883. Hard water still comes from the original well, and traditional bottled ales and stouts ferment in stone Yorkshire Squares.

The range includes pale ale, stout, India ale and lager. Cherry Fruit Beer is blended from a base beer brewed on restored steam-powered equipment at All Saints Brewery in Stamford.

Samuel Smith’s Pure Brewed Organic Lager

British Beer
$5.49

Organic malted barley and hops form a delicate, finely balanced lager, supported by medium-soft water and bottom-fermenting yeast. Low-temperature maturation encourages purity and condition, leaving the palate clean with a soft hop-led finish. The overall shape is restrained, polished and refreshing rather than overtly aromatic. Serve well chilled with roast chicken, fish and chips, grilled sausages, mild cheddar, shellfish or simple vegetable dishes.

Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout

British Beer
$8.99

Roasted coffee, dark chocolate and caramel appear on the aroma with oats and toasted malt. An exact specialist profile describes a creamy, full-bodied palate with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate flavours plus sweetness from the oats. Another published tasting record adds brown sugar, molasses, oak and port notes, together with a rich bittersweet flavour and a touch of yeast.
