AboutRombauer Vineyards
Koerner and Joan Rombauer founded Rombauer Vineyards in 1980, eight years after moving to St Helena. They first made Cabernet Sauvignon in the family garage, followed by Chardonnay at the new winery in 1982; both inaugural wines were released in 1984. Gallo acquired the winery in 2023.
The Carneros Chardonnay is barrel fermented, using fruit from estate vineyards and long-term growers. Richie Allen joined as a harvest intern in 2004 and became head winemaker four years later.
Rombauer 2023 Carneros Chardonnay
American White
Ripe yellow peach, Meyer lemon and chamomile accompany clove and vanilla. A rich, concentrated profile has a creamy, round mouthfeel. Sweet oak, honeysuckle, pineapple, matchstick and honey also appear. Fragrant apple and flowers add further detail. A lush character is also present, and the finish is rich. This Chardonnay comes from Carneros in California and carries 14.5 percent alcohol.
