AboutRocca di Montegrossi
Marco Ricasoli Firidolfi leads Rocca di Montegrossi near Monti in Chianti, in the Gaiole area. His family’s history includes Bettino Ricasoli, the nineteenth-century statesman whose work helped shape Chianti wine. Around San Marcellino, the roughly one-hundred-hectare property includes about twenty hectares of vines, mainly on south- and southeast-facing slopes.
The team harvests by hand into small baskets, making several passes through the rows to select fruit as it ripens. Sangiovese is the principal grape, joined by Canaiolo, Pugnitello and smaller plantings of international varieties.
Rocca di Montegrossi 2018 Geremia Toscana IGT
Sour cherry, currant and wild berries open with vanilla, licorice and dark chocolate. Full and structured, the palate layers blueberry, blackberry, lavender and scorched earth over lively acidity and velvety tannins. Freshness keeps the depth controlled, while savoury herbs and warm spice extend the finish. Serve with roast lamb, braised beef or porcini.
Rocca di Montegrossi 2023 Toscana Rosato IGT
Bright pink-red colour with shimmering reflections accompanies wild strawberry, tangerine peel, honey, citrus and raspberry. The palate is balanced and clear, with lively acidity, intense fruit and a fine citrus finish. Sangiovese provides the full composition. After forty to fifty minutes of skin contact, the juice ferments for about one month in temperature-controlled stainless steel and spends three to four months on the lees.
Rocca Di Montegrossi 2013 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico
Warm amber tones frame a complex bouquet of cherry liqueur, dried fruit and balsamic herbs. The palate is velvety and fresh, layering melted caramel and hazelnut with mint, flowers and gentle spice. Richness and natural acidity remain finely balanced through the persistent finish. Serve in a small pour with foie gras, blue cheese or almond pastries.
Rocca di Montegrossi 2015 Vigneto San Marcellino Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG
Bright ruby in colour, opening with raspberry, ripe cherry and plum, followed by violet, fine toast, leather and herbal spice. Dense and full across the palate, it balances vibrant acidity with decisive yet elegant tannins. Mineral and savoury notes add definition, while a light cocoa nuance lingers through the long, harmonious finish.
