AboutRocca delle Macìe

Film producer Italo Zingarelli founded Rocca delle Macìe in 1973, buying a ninety-three-hectare estate at Castellina in Chianti with just two hectares of vines. His son Sergio joined in 1985 and took over in 1989; Andrea, Giulia and Fabio now represent the third generation in the business.

The family’s holdings now span more than five hundred hectares in Tuscany, including over two hundred hectares of vineyards. Sangiovese is central to its Chianti Classico vineyards, while the purchase of Campomaccione in 1998 extended the family’s winemaking to coastal Maremma.

Rocca delle Macìe 2020 Campo Maccione Vermentino Maremma

Italian White
$23.99
Made entirely from Vermentino, this white comes from the Maremma area of Tuscany. Citrus, kiwi, fine herbs and green tea appear in a fresh profile, with lively acidity across the palate. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by a short period in tank. Suggested pairings include prawns with pasta, roast chicken, vegetables and fresh herbs.

Rocca delle Macìe Grappa di Chianti Classico

Italian Marc & Grappa
$74.99
Clean floral and fruit aromas lead a poised Tuscan grappa, with apple, wild strawberry, redcurrant and violet giving the nose lift and detail. Fresh pomace from Chianti Classico wine, led by Sangiovese, provides a clear grape character while careful distillation keeps the texture smooth and harmonious. The palate is warm but elegant, moving from orchard and red fruit into a gently savoury centre. A persistent finish leaves fruit, florals and a measured spirit warmth behind.

Rocca delle Macìe 2019 Famiglia Zingarelli Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG

Italian Red
$42.99
Bitter cherry and black raspberry lead, joined by plum, tobacco and a subtle ferrous note. Generous yet composed, the palate layers ripe fruit over firm, cedar-edged tannins, with fresh acidity keeping the wine lively. Savoury spice and a light espresso bitterness shape a dry, persistent finish with distinctly Tuscan restraint.
