AboutRoad 13

In 2003, Pam and Mick Luckhurst bought Golden Mile Cellars, the Oliver winery now known as Road 13. Its South Okanagan range includes Rhône varieties, old-vine Chenin Blanc and Bordeaux-style red blends.

On the Golden Mile Bench, gravel-rich, free-draining ground meets a late-afternoon cooling period as the sun drops behind Mount Kobau. Across the valley, the Black Sage Bench has arid conditions, strong sun and soils formed by glacial outwash.

Canadian White
$27.99
Apple, pear, apricot, grape and spice accompany fresh, lingering flavours in this Okanagan white. Chardonnay, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne make up the blend. Fruit comes from Cawston, Black Sage Bench and the Golden Mile. The wine pairs with seafood and vegetables, bringing several South Okanagan sites and four white grape varieties together in a single cuvée.

Canadian Red
$79.99
Lush, macerated dark fruit fills the palate, framed by desert scrub and generous oak. French and American barrels bring broad spice and polish, while firm structure keeps the richness in line. Built from six red varieties, this is muscular and still youthful, with a brooding character that will continue to knit together with time in bottle.
