AboutChampagne Geoffroy
The Geoffroy family’s roots in Cumières reach back to the 1600s, with vineyards passed down through generations in the Marne Valley. Roger Geoffroy and his wife Julienne began producing their own bottles in the early 1950s, turning the family’s farming inheritance into a grower Champagne house. Their son René and his wife Bernadette expanded the vineyards; Jean-Baptiste joined the estate in the late 1980s.
In 2008 Jean-Baptiste and Karine Geoffroy moved winemaking to a nineteenth-century house in Aÿ. The roughly fourteen hectares of vineyards remain centred on Cumières, with plots in Damery, Hautvillers and Fleury-la-Rivière. Gravity, parcel-by-parcel vinification, native yeasts and avoidance of malolactic fermentation are used to hold onto freshness and keep the stamp of individual sites clear.
