Rathjen Cellars 2018 Saison Vineyard Pinot Gris
Orange peel, apricot and Bosc pear give this dry Pinot Gris a bright, ripe profile. Concentrated fruit meets pronounced acidity, creating a tart, energetic palate with a rich, viscous texture. Fruit from Saison Vineyard on Vancouver Island carries a saline, marine-fresh impression, with green apple and understated meadow flowers around a savoury herbal edge. The finish stays fresh, textured and distinctly coastal.
Rathjen Cellars Scrumpy Cider 500 mL
Wild fermentation brings together apples, quince, pears and crabapples gathered from local orchards. The small-lot cider draws entirely on Vancouver Island fruit, reflecting the producer’s wider commitment to local growing conditions and orchard diversity around the Saanich Peninsula. Its scrumpy identity is deliberately rustic and fruit-led, with several orchard species contributing to the blend rather than apples alone.
Rathjen Cellars 2020 Wine Bunker Red
Ripe mulberry, blackberry and damson plum are joined by light soy and cedar frond. The texture is light, with soft tannins, mouthwatering acidity and a long finish. Gamay Noir, Maréchal Foch and Pinot Noir come from Cowichan Valley and the Saanich Peninsula. Sixty percent of the fruit was crushed, destemmed and fermented on skins; the remainder underwent carbonic maceration. Indigenous yeast completed fermentation before two years in barrel.
Rathjen Cellars 2018 P + G Pinot Noir–Gamay
Wild cherry, raspberry, plum and pink peppercorn appear in a light, juicy profile with fresh acidity and salinity. Pinot Noir and Gamay from Vancouver Island make up the blend in equal proportions. The fruit received a forty-eight-hour cold soak, followed by native fermentation in open-top bins and one week on skins. Each variety spent one year in neutral French barrels before blending, then another year in barrel. Bottling was unfined and unfiltered.
Rathjen Sparkling Rosé NV
Fine bubbles carry cranberry and raspberry across a fresh, lightly earthy palate. Pinot Noir gives the wine a clear red-fruit centre, while mineral and gentle yeasty notes add savoury depth. Traditional-method production brings a composed texture and a subtle brioche accent without dulling the fruit. The finish stays bright and finely textured, leaving red berries, citrus lift, cool minerals and a quiet bread-dough note.
Rathjen Cellars Imperative Dry Vermouth
Orange peel and fresh herbs lead a light, aromatic nose, with cardamom and marjoram adding warm, savoury detail. Roasted dandelion root gives the palate an earthy bitterness, while wormwood keeps the dry profile firm and focused. The fruit remains restrained, allowing the botanical layers to unfold without heaviness. The finish is crisp, gently bitter and refreshing. Serve chilled as an aperitif, over ice with citrus, or use it to bring local herbal character to a Martini.
Rathjen 2018 Pinot Auxerrois
Bright citrus and honey lead a lively, gently rounded nose. The palate is fresh and quietly textured, with lees ageing in neutral oak adding breadth without masking the fruit. Clean acidity keeps the wine precise, carrying the citrus and honey through a poised, refreshing and persistent finish.
