AboutQuevedo
Quevedo’s roots in the Douro reach back through five generations, beginning with vines planted by Abel Gouveia Costa at Valongo dos Azeites in 1889. The family founded the modern company in 1993, moving from supplying other houses to bottling Port under its own name. The winery is based in São João da Pesqueira, with vineyards in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior.
Fifth-generation Cláudia Quevedo leads Port winemaking, while Óscar Quevedo Junior directs sales. The range includes youthful Ports, long wood-aged styles and unfortified Douro wines.
Quevedo Tawny Port
Roasted almond, nougat, fig, orange peel and light fruitcake form an accessible tawny profile. The mouthfeel is soft, with rustic edges and a short finish carrying noticeable alcohol warmth. Touriga Nacional is joined by Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Cão. This non-vintage Port comes from Portugal’s Douro Valley and can be served slightly chilled with fruitcake or crème caramel.
Quevedo 1992 Colheita Port
Sun-dried fruit, candied orange and poached fruit meet cinnamon, grilled nuts, old wood and a quiet smoky note. The palate opens rich and full, then tightens through the middle as sweetness gives way to drier, more savoury detail. Bitter chocolate and warm spice add depth without obscuring the fruit. The finish is powerful, layered and very long, lingering on cinnamon, nuts and candied fruit.
