AboutCastello di Querceto

Castello di Querceto stands above the Dudda valley near Greve, surrounded by the vineyards, olive groves and woods of northern Chianti Classico. The François family acquired the castle and its agricultural land in 1897. In 1924, members of the family joined the group that founded the consortium created to defend Chianti’s traditional wine and origin.

Many of the vines grow on hillsides surrounded by woodland, at differing elevations. Sangiovese and Chianti Classico provide the historical centre, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Vernaccia also represented in the range.

Castello di Querceto 2016 Cignale Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT

Italian Red
$115.99
Deep ruby in colour, with blueberry, blackcurrant and dark plum layered over dried flowers and earthy notes of humus, mushroom and bark. A restrained balsamic lift recalls pine. Full-bodied and harmonious, the palate carries dense fruit on firm yet silky tannins, finishing fresh and long with lingering fruit and dried-citrus detail.
