Château Puech-Haut
AboutChâteau Puech-Haut
Château Puech-Haut began with Gérard Bru’s return to the Languedoc landscape he had known through his grandfather. After a career in industry, he set about transforming rough garrigue and olive ground at Saint-Drézéry into a vineyard, building an estate between the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Cévennes. Rounded stones cover the estate’s clay-limestone soils.
Red wines may be made in broad wooden vats, while white winemaking includes pressing, settling and, for some wines, barrel ageing with lees stirring.
Château Puech-Haut 2022 Prestige Blanc
Ripe pear, white peach and citrus lead, with floral notes and a gentle honeyed accent adding depth. The palate is broad yet fresh, balancing the rounded texture of Roussanne and Marsanne with clean acidity and a subtle mineral line. Soft spice carries through the composed finish, making this polished southern French white well suited to roast chicken, shellfish or creamy vegetable dishes.
Château Puech-Haut 2021 Prestige Rouge
Blackberry, dried red cherry, strawberry and huckleberry lead a generous mix of red and dark fruit. The palate is concentrated and full without losing freshness, with lightly grippy tannins carrying the fruit into a firm, persistent finish. Serve slightly cool with grilled duck, roast lamb, a well-seared rib steak or a board of mature cheeses.
