Kathleen Sinclair created Poppyshake after several years working with Bella Wines in British Columbia. Her early wines were made in Naramata, using native fermentation and techniques such as skin contact, basket pressing and fermentation in older barrels. Some early sparkling wines aged on their yeast sediment, which was then removed by hand.
Poppyshake 2023 Sparkling Red
Canadian Sparkling
Cabernet Libre and Cayuga form a sparkling red with 10.1 percent alcohol. Raspberry, black pepper and blood orange appear in the profile. The wine comes from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and is associated with Salt Spring Island. It belongs to Kathleen Sinclair’s personal project; she is a natural wine and cider maker whose earlier work included Bella Wines.
