The Silva family founded Poppy in Monterey wine country in 2003, focusing on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes come from vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands, Arroyo Seco, Monterey and Paso Robles. In Arroyo Seco, Pacific breezes reach the vineyards through the canyon opening towards the Salinas Valley. The cellar uses both French oak and tank maturation.

Red fruit brightens the palate, joined by raspberry and spice, while toasted French oak appears in the aromas. The texture is soft and silky through the middle, supported by proper acidity. A juicy fruit impression remains through the finish. Pinot Noir comes from Monterey on California’s Central Coast, and the dry red carries 13.85 percent alcohol.
