Château Pontoise Cabarrus
Château Pontoise Cabarrus
AboutChâteau Pontoise Cabarrus
The estate has carried the Cabarrus name since Jean Valère Cabarrus bought Pontoise from Joseph Hector de Brane in 1795. The Haut-Médoc estate appeared in the 1932 Cru Bourgeois classification. Émile Tereygeol acquired the property in 1959; the vineyard he passed to his son François was then expanded and modernized, and a later generation continues the work.
At Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, twenty-seven hectares of vines extend toward the Gironde estuary and the neighbouring appellation of Saint-Estèphe. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grow on gravel soils, with the oldest vines dating to 1951. The family grows its own grapes and makes the wines at the estate.
Château Pontoise Cabarrus 2019 Haut-Médoc
French Red
A Cabernet-led Haut-Médoc with fresh blackberry and blueberry over toasty vanilla spice. The palate is rich but balanced, with dark fruit carried by firm structure and a measured oak note. Give it a little air, then serve with roast beef, grilled lamb, braised dishes or mushrooms; the finish is warm, polished and savoury.
