Smooth and approachable, this porter layers vanilla and chocolate over a rounded base of oats and rye. Caramel malt, red berries and coffee add definition through the middle, followed by a light touch of nuttiness and toffee. The finish is creamy, gently roasted and balanced rather than heavy. Serve cool with braised beef, smoked cheese, mushroom dishes, chocolate cake or toasted nuts.

Dark fruit, plum, raisin, cranberry and grape shape the aroma, joined by forest-fruit jamminess, espresso and dark sugar. The official brewery profile records cherry alongside the other fruit, while silky dark malt, cognac, liquorice, honey, molasses and rich dark chocolate appear in the taste description. The exact release is a cognac-barrel-aged imperial Baltic porter at eleven-point-five per cent alcohol.
