AboutPierre Gimonnet & Fils
The Gimonnet family has grown vines in Cuis since around 1750, moving from grape sales into making its own Champagne between the two world wars. Michel Gimonnet introduced separate winemaking for each vineyard parcel in small stainless-steel tanks in 1955; his sons Didier and Olivier now lead the estate. All its grapes come from the family’s 29.4 hectares in Cuis, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and Vertus in the Côte des Blancs.
Chardonnay is the main grape, and the team assesses dozens of still wines for blending, keeping reserve wines in bottle. Vineyard work includes selective soil cultivation, minimal herbicide use, restrained fertilization and measures to encourage biodiversity.
Pierre Gimonnet & Fils 2015 Special Club Champagne
Juicy citrus and tart green apple frame a cool, lean palate built around chalk and saline minerality. The mousse is fine and energetic, while delicate floral notes give the wine lift without softening its serious, tightly drawn structure. The finish is long, dry and precise. Excellent with oysters, sole meuniere, aged Comte or a simple roast chicken.
Pierre Gimonnet & Fils 2016 Special Club Cramant Grand Cru Champagne
Asian pear, nectarine and citrus lead a layered bouquet, with jasmine, freesia and yellow flowers bringing aromatic lift. Hazelnut, pollen and a light waxy note add depth. The palate is rich yet lively, its fine bubbles and fresh acidity keeping the ripe fruit precise. Chalky mineral detail develops through the middle. Harmonious and persistent, it finishes with pear, citrus, nuts and a measured savoury note.
