AboutPetterino
Petterino is the tiny Gattinara estate of brothers Marco and Giancarlo Petterino, working in the northern reaches of Piedmont. Their roughly 2.5 hectares include the southwest-facing Permolone, Castelle and Guardie parcels, rooted in Gattinara’s volcanic soils.
Grapes are picked by hand and ferment for about fifteen days before the wine spends three years in 2,500-litre casks. At least six more months in stainless steel allow the wine to clarify naturally before bottling. The estate releases vintages when it considers them ready to drink, often holding its Gattinara for nine or ten years rather than releasing wines in date order.

Floral notes, iron, anise and berries characterize this aromatic Nebbiolo. Grapes are harvested by hand, followed by about fifteen days of fermentation. The wine spends three years in 25-hectolitre botti and at least six months in stainless steel for natural clarification before bottling. The estate determines the timing of release according to the wine's drinkability.
