AboutPerrier-Jouët

Maison Perrier-Jouët was founded in Épernay in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, a newly married couple whose interests joined wine, botany and the arts. They chose Chardonnay as the house signature and secured vineyards across three Côte des Blancs villages—Cramant, Avize and Chouilly—all later classified as Grands Crus. Chardonnay now represents 56 percent of Perrier-Jouët’s own vineyard holdings.

In 1846, the house made the lightly dosed Cuvée K for British drinkers, an early model for the drier style now associated with brut Champagne. Émile Gallé’s white-anemone design, created for the house in 1902, later became the enduring emblem of Belle Epoque and its Art Nouveau identity. Since 2020, cellar master Séverine Frerson has overseen the vineyards and cellars, blending and vintage decisions as the eighth person to hold the role.
