AboutPérez Barquero

Founded in 1905, Pérez Barquero is a family wine house in Montilla-Moriles, in southern Córdoba. Pedro Ximénez is its principal grape, grown on the region’s chalky albariza soils.

Soleras established in 1905 are still in use, alongside a later series begun in 1955 to mark the bodega’s fiftieth anniversary. In this system, younger wines gradually replenish older ones through a series of casks. The range includes dry Fino and Amontillado as well as sweet, aged Pedro Ximénez.

Perfumed and subtle on the nose, with toasted nuts, polished wood and a faint iodine edge. The palate is intense yet finely balanced, combining deep saline character with precise oxidative complexity. Sea salt, dried citrus peel and savoury spice keep the texture focused rather than heavy. The finish is exceptionally long, dry and crisp, leaving an elegant mix of coastal minerality, nuttiness and mature depth.
