AboutPajzos-Megyer

Two historic Tokaj sites stand behind Pajzos-Megyer. The Pajzos and Megyer wine companies were formed in 1992 and later came under the ownership of Jean-Louis Laborde.

Megyer is a cool, south- and southeast-facing hillside at Sarospatak, with 63 hectares in production across rhyolitic tuff and clay-rich forest soils. Furmint, Harslevelu and Yellow Muscat dominate its plantings, and the slower-ripening site is particularly well suited to dry wine while still yielding material for sweet Tokaj in favourable years.

Megyer 2023 Tokaji Dry Furmint

Hungarian White
$36.99
Apple, mango, pineapple and herbs form the fruit profile. The dry white is spicy and firm, with moderately high acidity and a forceful finish marked by mineral character, bitterness and warmth. It is made entirely from Furmint grown in the Megyer vineyard. Maturation combines five months in oak with four months in stainless steel, and the vineyard is organically farmed.
