The Borthwick family’s New Zealand farming history spans five generations and more than a century. Paddy established the vineyard in 1996 at Gladstone in Wairarapa, beside the Ruamahanga River. The site has free-draining, stony alluvial soils, warm days, cool nights and low rainfall.
The family owns and manages the property, growing the grapes and making and bottling the wines on site. Paddy Borthwick works with winemaker Briony Carnachan.
Paddy Borthwick 2025 Wairarapa Sauvignon Blanc
New Zealand White
Passion fruit is present in this Sauvignon Blanc. The estate vineyard lies in Gladstone, within Wairarapa, beside the Ruamahanga River. Stony, free-draining alluvial soils combine with warm daytime temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall. The fruit is grown and bottled at the family-owned estate, whose white wines are produced to reflect the characteristics of their regional setting.
