AboutOrion Breweries

Orion Breweries was established in 1957 under the name Okinawa Breweries. The name Orion was chosen through a public contest in 1958, and the Nago brewery was completed that November. Beer went on sale across Okinawa in May 1959; one month later, the company adopted the Orion Breweries name.

Exports began with Taiwan in 1966, followed by the United States in 1976. Its flagship, The Draft, uses Okinawa-grown barley and water from Yambaru.

Orion The Draft Okinawan Lager 633 mL

Japanese Beer
$8.99

Crisp and easy-drinking, with a clean grain profile and a refreshing finish. Okinawa-grown barley and water from Yambaru give the beer its local frame, while careful filtration is used to strip away coarse or distracting flavours. The result is light-footed but not thin, with enough malt character to carry fried foods, grilled fish and simple Okinawan dishes.
