Offley

William Offley founded the eponymous wine-merchant business in London in 1737, initially trading before developing its own Port production. Joseph James Forrester joined the company in the 1830s and became closely associated with both Offley and nineteenth-century Douro mapping. The house’s identity is rooted in Port and the Douro, despite its English commercial origin and the later Forrester name.

Offley is now part of Sogrape, a current ownership fact that is separate from the roles of William Offley and Baron Forrester. Its Port range includes several styles with different grapes, vineyard sources and ageing, so no one product defines all production. Offley remains a Portuguese Port house within Sogrape, with a history shaped by Joseph James Forrester’s nineteenth-century work.
