AboutNaminooto Shuzo
Naminooto Shuzo sits near the shore of Lake Biwa in Otsu, Shiga, where the Nakai family has brewed since 1805. A high-ranking monk from Mount Hiei gave the brewery its name. Tenth-generation head Takashi Nakai leads the family-run brewery, which makes its sake in small batches. It also makes sake-based liqueurs, including one with Japanese-grown kabosu citrus.
Naminooto Shuzo Kabo Sukkiri Kabosu Sake Liqueur 720 mL
Fragrant and bright, with fresh kabosu bringing zesty citrus, vivid acidity and a subtle peel-like bitterness. A sake base softens the sharper edges, adding a smooth, gently sweet middle without dulling the fruit’s refreshing character. The finish is clean, tangy and lightly rounded. Serve thoroughly chilled or over ice, either on its own or beside grilled fish, tempura, salty snacks and other dishes that welcome a precise citrus lift.
