AboutMortlach

Mortlach was established in 1823 as Dufftown’s first licensed distillery. After engineer George Cowie joined in the nineteenth century, his son Alexander expanded the distillery to six stills and developed the complex process known as “2.81-times” distillation. Traditional worm-tub condensers contribute to its rich, savoury style. The distillery’s 1992 Flora & Fauna single malt later inspired its sixteen-year-old release.

Mortlach 16 Year Old Distiller’s Dram Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Scottish Whisky
$159.99

Stewed black orchard fruit leads a bold, complex nose, with dark chocolate, dried fruit and a trace of smoke adding depth. The palate is robust and full, shaped by sherry casks and a savoury, almost meaty richness that gives the whisky its distinctive weight. Honeyed sweetness softens the darker fruit and oak, while gentle spice keeps the structure firm. The finish is long and warming, carrying cocoa, dried fruit and polished wood. Serve neat or add water gradually.
