AboutMönchhof
Winegrowing at Mönchhof in Ürzig is documented to 1177, when Pope Alexander the Third confirmed vineyard ownership by the Cistercian Abbey of Himmerod. The vaulted cellar survives from the monastic period, while the present estate building dates to 1509. Its Riesling comes from steep, slate-rich Mosel vineyards including Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Prälat.

White pepper, ash and crushed stone frame vivid nectarine and grapefruit. The palate is semi-dry and richly extracted, yet remains light on its feet, with brisk acidity giving the ripe fruit lift and precision. The finish is bright, mineral and mouthwatering. Serve chilled with spicy dishes, smoked fish or soft-rind cheese.

Mönchhof 2019 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese
Fresh Riesling fruit leads the aroma, with a light yeasty note and an inviting, grape-like purity. The palate is vivid and energetic, driven by bright acidity and a delicate thread of slate spice. Juicy grape character remains at the centre, while the fresh acid line and slate seasoning continue together through the clear, lively finish.
Mönchhof 2019 Erdener Prälat Riesling Auslese
Smoky earth and honeysuckle frame ripe yellow peach and apricot. The palate is concentrated yet feather-light, with vivid acidity cutting through generous sweetness and keeping the fruit precise. Lime zest, mint and a touch of bitter toffee add complexity without weighing down the wine. The finish is long, pure and energetic, leaving stone fruit, herbs and a fine mineral edge.
