AboutDomaine Melinon
Domaine Melinon traces its family winegrowing roots to 1737 in the Saint-Joseph hamlet of Villié-Morgon, an inheritance now spanning eight generations. Odile and Gérard Melinon combined their holdings in 2000. Their son Gaëtan began working at the domaine in 2019 after vineyard and cellar experience in Burgundy. He now works alongside Odile, while his sister Marine handles the estate’s administration and finance.
The estate covers fifteen hectares, eight of them in Morgon, with further parcels across several Beaujolais crus and regional appellations. The family uses grass cover and soil cultivation as it gradually converts the vineyard to organic farming. Each parcel ferments separately with indigenous yeasts before maturation in concrete or oak, chosen to suit the wine.
Domaine Melinon 2017 Morgon
A vibrant Morgon with ripe red cherry, blackberry and violet on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and smooth, balancing juicy red fruit with soft tannins, bright acidity and subtle earthy, mineral undertones. Fresh and structured through the finish, it is versatile at the table and works well with charcuterie, roast poultry, mushrooms or grilled pork.
