Matsui Whisky / Kurayoshi Distillery

A floral nose opens with fresh melon, white fruit and a light dusting of confectioner's sugar. Rose petal and sweet grain add perfume without overwhelming the malt. The palate brings apple, citrus and honey over a gently bitter malt core, with caramel and buttered toast giving the texture more weight. Sakura, or Japanese cherry wood, contributes a faint blossom-like sweetness and dry spice. White pepper, anise and a trace of vanilla shape the lingering finish. Serve neat or with a small splash of water.
