AboutMartoccia

Martoccia is Luca Brunelli’s family estate just outside Montalcino, rooted in a small farm to which Mauro Brunelli and Anna Savini returned in 1964. Their son Luca gained experience at another local estate before developing the family vineyards in 1998. Today the range includes Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello and other Tuscan wines.

Vineyard yields are kept below the appellation’s permitted maximum. Ageing combines medium and large casks with a portion of the wines matured in smaller French oak barrels.

Martoccia 2020 Rosso di Montalcino DOC

Italian Red
$41.99
Bright cranberry and cherry appear with slate, flowers, spice and mint. Smooth, integrated tannins give the medium-structured palate an approachable shape. The wine is made entirely from Sangiovese Grosso grown in younger parcels around 300 metres. It spends about nine months in Slovenian and French oak, followed by approximately four months in bottle before release.
