AboutQuinta do Mourão
Quinta do Mourão lies near Lamego in the Baixo Corgo, with vineyards in both the Baixo and Cima Corgo. Mário Braga bought it and four other properties in 1972, fulfilling his ambition to make Port from vineyards of his own. His son Miguel left economics to join the wine business full-time in 2005; Falua acquired the estate in 2023.
Vineyard work is carried out by hand across sites with different soils and elevations. The Port cellar holds wines made more than a century ago, ageing in large casks. São Leonardo is the estate’s Port range, spanning Vintage Port, aged tawny and aged white styles.
S. Leonardo 40-Year-Old Tawny Port
Mahogany-brown and richly aromatic, with raisin, ripe apricot and walnut at the centre. Caramelized citrus, syrup and a gentle wood-spice note add depth without obscuring the fruit. The palate is sweet and layered, balanced by enough acidity to keep the texture lively and precise. Nutty, dried-fruit flavours linger through the finish. Serve lightly chilled with chocolate desserts, blue cheese or toasted nuts.
