AboutPoderi Luigi Einaudi

Luigi Einaudi bought the San Giacomo estate in Dogliani in 1897, aged twenty-three. An economist who later became president of Italy, he invested in the vineyards, introduced American rootstocks in response to phylloxera and established the estate’s winery in 1915. His great-grandson Matteo Sardagna Einaudi is the fourth generation to lead the estate, which has vineyards in both Dogliani and Barolo.

Poderi Luigi Einaudi 1997 Barolo Cannubi (Stained Label)

Italian Red
$159.99
Dried cherry, flowers and leather lead into an earthy palate with touches of cedar and lavender. Full-bodied and firmly structured, this Nebbiolo balances concentrated fruit with dry tannins. Violet, pepper and a hint of vanilla linger on the finish. Try it with braised beef or mushroom risotto finished with aged cheese. Stained label. Image is illustrative.

Poderi Luigi Einaudi 2001 Barolo Costa Grimaldi

Italian Red
$165.99
Ripe black cherry, cedar and dried spice give this Barolo a generous, savoury character. Made from Nebbiolo, Costa Grimaldi 2001 has a full body and an almost creamy texture, supported by plush tannins. The finish is long and rounded. Its richness makes it a fine partner for braised beef, game or a mushroom ragù.
