AboutLuc Baudet

Luc Baudet trained as an agricultural engineer and worked in food production before returning to study oenology at 31. Since 2014, he and Stéphanie Baudet have developed Clos des Centenaires near Vauvert in the Costières de Nîmes. The estate takes its name from the old olive trees and oaks around the original seven-hectare vineyard.

By 2022, they were working about thirty hectares of vineyards on rounded stones, sand and red clay overlooking the Petite Camargue wetlands. Northerly winds and Mediterranean breezes temper the heat and prolong ripening, helping their pursuit of freshness. The cellar uses barrels and amphorae for wines made from Rhône and Mediterranean varieties.

Luc Baudet 2023 Sur le Pont Viognier Pays d’Oc

French White
$41.99
Apricot and pear appear with a hint of honeysuckle and a mineral finish. The wine is made entirely from Viognier under the Pays d’Oc designation in Languedoc. Vineyard parcels are selected along the Rhône for their exposure, and the vines are tended with respect for nature. The winemaker’s earlier experience included whisky distilling, olive oil and cheese.
