AboutLosada Vinos de Finca
Losada Vinos de Finca is based at Alto de Pieros, between Cacabelos and Villafranca del Bierzo, in a landscape of old vines and sharply varied soils. Winemaker Amancio Fernández, raised in a local winegrowing family and trained in Requena and Valladolid, has worked with the project since 2005.
The gravity-fed cellar has production and ageing spaces set underground. Mature Mencía and Godello vineyards are central to the project, with particular attention given to clay soils. A vineyard programme introduced in 2017 combines cover crops, ploughing, replanting and field grafting.
Losada 2021 Godello Bierzo
Light yellow in colour, the wine offers pear and liquorice with floral, white-fruit and mineral notes. The palate has richness and a light oily texture without heaviness, supported by crisp acidity and slate-like minerality through the finish. Godello provides the full composition. Maturation lasts five months on fine lees, with seventy percent in stainless steel and thirty percent in used five-hundred-litre French oak barrels.
Losada 2019 Mencía Bierzo
Black cherry and plum lead with toast, dark chocolate and licorice, while mountain herbs and mineral notes add lift. The palate is expressive and balanced, with integrated tannins and acidity carrying the fruit into a composed finish. Generous but not heavy, it suits grilled steak, roast lamb or mushroom dishes.
