AboutLinkwood

Peter Brown established Linkwood on the edge of Elgin in 1821, waiting until 1825 to begin production after Scotland’s licensing laws had changed. The distillery remained with the Brown family through the nineteenth century and is now part of Diageo. A second still house opened in 1971; the older plant later closed and was demolished in 2012.

Long fermentation and slow distillation are central to its production, yielding a fresh, delicate spirit. With relatively few official releases, much of its whisky reaches drinkers through independent bottlers.

Linkwood 2011 11 Year Old Cooper’s Choice Calvados Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700 mL

Scottish Whisky
$214.99
Ripe apple and orchard fruit lead, joined by vanilla and delicate peach blossom. The palate is bright and concentrated, with the Calvados-cask finish amplifying fresh apple while the underlying malt keeps the texture supple and composed. American oak maturation contributes gentle sweetness and spice rather than weight. The finish is clean, fruity and persistent, carrying apple, vanilla and soft floral notes. At natural strength, it should open well with a small measure of water.
