AboutLightning Rock

Lightning Rock began in Summerland in 2017 as a family winery built around estate farming and low-intervention cellar work. Ron Kubek owns the winery, while Sébastien Hotte leads its vineyard work and winemaking. The Canyonview, Elysia and Trestle Beach vineyards are farmed with composting and hands-on organic practices.

After losing the local crop in 2024, Lightning Rock brought Washington grapes to Summerland to make its limited Cross Border Collection.

Lightning Rock 2024 Eagle and Plow Vineyard Cross Border Collection Malbec

American Red
$32.99

This Malbec comes from Eagle and Plow Vineyard Block 23 in Horse Heaven Hills, Washington. It belongs to the Cross Border Collection, created after extreme cold caused a complete crop loss in Lightning Rock’s British Columbia vineyards. Lightning Rock 2024 Coyote Canyon Vineyard Albariño

American White
$33.99

Mineral character sits with Asian pear, stone fruit, spring blossoms and nougat. The palate is layered and creamy, with vibrant acidity and a long finish of ripe stone fruit. Grapes are gently pressed, settled for forty-eight hours and fermented naturally in concrete eggs. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation, spends six months in concrete, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Lightning Rock 2024 Coyote Canyon Vineyard Counoise

American Red
$36.99

Wild strawberry, raspberry, pepper spice, floral tones and a savoury edge appear in a light-bodied profile with lively acidity. Counoise from Coyote Canyon Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills was harvested on September ninth and fully destemmed. A spontaneous fourteen-day fermentation took place in open-top fermenters, followed by ten months in neutral oak. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration.

Lightning Rock 2024 Arete Vineyard Chenin Blanc Pét-Nat

American Sparkling
$35.99

Citrus blossom, green apple and pear skin meet chalky minerality and a subtle yeast note. The palate is energetic, with bold bubbles and a crisp finish. Organically farmed Chenin comes from Arete Vineyard in Othello, Washington. The fruit was whole-cluster pressed, settled overnight and racked off gross lees. Fermentation began in stainless steel, then completed in bottle before disgorgement after five months on the lees.

Lightning Rock 2025 Chahal Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
