AboutLes Cigales dans la Fourmilière

Les Cigales dans la Fourmilière brings Julie Brosselin and Ivo Ferreira together in Montpeyroux, high in the Languedoc’s Larzac foothills. They began the shared label in 2016, pooling four hectares before gradually assembling about ten hectares of scattered organic parcels. Brosselin had worked at Le Petit Domaine; Ferreira’s background includes work as a sommelier and with low-intervention winemakers.

Their vineyards lie on dry, stony ground in the Larzac foothills. The approach combines organic farming with native-yeast fermentations and few, if any, additions.

Les Cigales dans la Fourmilière 2021 Rue de la Peste

French Red
$45.99
Syrah and Carignan form a dry red from Languedoc, bottled as Vin de France. The profile is juicy and earthy, and the wine is made without added sulphur. The two growers joined forces and work vineyards around Montpeyroux. Each retains an individual approach, reflected by keeping their respective wines visually distinct and identified by the responsible grower.
