Leonetti Cellar
Leonetti Cellar
Gary and Nancy Figgins founded Leonetti Cellar in 1977, creating the first bonded winery in Washington’s Walla Walla Valley. The family’s farming roots in the area predate the winery, while later generations expanded estate vineyards and assumed operational roles. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties form the core of the cellar, with Sangiovese maintained as a separate estate wine.
Current wines draw from family-controlled vineyards across Walla Walla rather than a single historical parcel. The official timeline distinguishes the 1977 winery founding, earlier family settlement and subsequent vineyard acquisitions. Leonetti Cellar remains rooted in Walla Walla Valley, where the Figgins family established the winery in 1977.
Leonetti Cellar 2016 Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry lead a rich, focused bouquet. Dried rosemary, sage and lavender add lift, while coffee, cocoa and barrel spice bring depth. The palate is full and polished, its ripe fruit supported by firm, noble tannins and fresh acidity. Dense without feeling heavy, it finishes long with cassis, dark chocolate, herbs and a measured savoury note.
