Le Ragose
AboutLe Ragose
Le Ragose began in 1969, when oenologist Arnaldo Galli and Marta Galli bought an abandoned estate above Negrar and restored its hillside vineyards. Today their sons Paolo and Marco direct the property, with third-generation Marta Galli working in marketing and sales.
The southwest-facing slopes are dry farmed and worked by hand. Red and brown clay lie over Eocene limestone, and the estate preserves lesser-known local grape varieties alongside its work with international grapes. Appassimento and long maturation in large Slavonian oak casks are part of the estate’s winemaking.
Le Ragose 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
Italian Red
Intense, brilliant ruby colour has a light garnet rim. Ripe dark berries, underbrush and cooking spices appear with raisin, star anise and tobacco. The palate is concentrated and rich, with firm, refined tannins. Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone Veronese form the blend. Stainless steel and large wooden casks were used for maturation. The wine comes from Veneto, Italy.
Le Ragose 2014 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOCG
Italian Dessert
Black cherry and blackcurrant lead a dense, dark-fruited nose, followed by wild berries, dark chocolate and cardamom. The palate is lush and concentrated, yet freshness keeps the sweetness composed. Coffee-bean and gentle savoury notes add depth to a long, harmonious finish. Serve lightly chilled with blue cheese, chocolate cake or hazelnut pastries.
