Fattoria La Valentina was founded in 1990 in Spoltore, near Pescara; Sabatino Di Properzio became involved in the mid-1990s. The Di Properzio family farms about 40 hectares across several Abruzzo sites at different elevations. The focus stays close to Abruzzo’s native grapes, especially Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Pecorino. The vineyards are farmed organically.

Mentholated herbs, tobacco and anise frame a concentrated core of brandied cherry. The palate is medium-bodied, polished and bright, with red fruit folding neatly into measured barrel spice. Well-mannered tannins provide supportive structure, extending the fruit and savoury detail through an assured, composed, lingering finish.
