AboutKosta Browne
Kosta Browne began in 1997 when restaurant colleagues Dan Kosta and Michael Browne pooled their tips to buy grapes and make their first wine, with Chris Costello joining as a third partner. Julien Howsepian became its third winemaker in 2019, expanding the winery’s work in Chardonnay, sparkling wine, Oregon and Burgundy alongside its focus on Pinot Noir.
The winery works across cool coastal regions including Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands, Santa Rita Hills and Anderson Valley. Wines from individual blocks and rows are assessed for blending, with the aim of balancing richness and freshness while preserving the character of their vineyards.
Kosta Browne 2017 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
American Red
Fresh cranberry, strawberry and citrus rind open with a light touch of baking spice. Broad and silky on the palate, the Pinot Noir balances ripe raspberry and pomegranate with a supportive line of acidity. Well-judged oak adds quiet polish, while the bright fruit and freshness carry through a poised, gently spiced finish.
