AboutKodama Brewing

The Kodama family established Kodama Brewing in Katagami, Akita, in 1879, initially making miso and soy sauce. Second-generation Tomokichi Kodama began brewing sake in 1913 under the Taiheizan name, taken from Mount Taihei.

Its Kaden Kimoto method adapts a traditional fermentation starter for long, cool brewing. The flagship Tenko, introduced in 1989, is a Junmai Daiginjo made with Yamada Nishiki rice.
