AboutJourney's End
The Gabb family acquired Journey’s End in 1996 and replanted the South African property. Its first release was a 2002 Chardonnay, launched in 2004. Founder Roger Gabb remains chairman, with Rollo Gabb leading the business and Michael Dawson heading the winemaking team.
Forty hectares of vines grow in the Schapenberg hills on decomposed granite. Solar power, water reuse and an expanded conservation area are part of the estate’s environmental work.
Journey’s End 2023 Honey Bee Shiraz Viognier Western Cape
Plum, blueberry and blackcurrant lead, joined by cracked pepper and a subtle mocha note from oak. The palate is generous but balanced, with ripe dark fruit, soft tannins and enough freshness to keep the blend lively. A smooth, lightly spiced finish makes it an easy match for grilled sausages, roast lamb, smoky vegetables or burgers.
Bees Knees 2024 Chenin Blanc Viognier
Ripe tangerine, apricot and pear lead, with orange blossom and fresh-cut herbs bringing lift. The palate is medium-bodied and smooth, balancing orchard fruit with bright citrus, subtle spice and a clean line of acidity. A gently rounded, refreshing finish makes this South African white an easy partner for roast chicken, grilled prawns or lightly spiced vegetable dishes.
